What we believe

Statement of Faith

Youth For Change Christian Movement is a Bible based, Christ centred and Holy Spirit empowered and led youth organisation, believing in the whole counsel of the Word of God.

  1. We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God, having the ultimate authority on all things pertaining to life, faith and godliness.
  2. We believe there is one perfect God, eternally existing in three persons – the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit – each fully possessing all attributes of deity.
  3. We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and everything therein, both visible and invisible.
  4. We believe that humankind is created in the image of God according to His likeness, and that God made humankind male and female, thus affirming gender differences.
  5. We believe that God instituted the first marriage between a man, Adam (male), and a woman, Eve (female), thus establishing the foundation for marriage between a man and a woman, pronouncing a blessing of procreation upon their union.
  6. We believe in the historical fall of humankind (Adam and Eve) through their disobedience. Through their fall sin entered the world, causing all humanity to be sinners in nature, reflected in deeds, and thus alienated from God, unable to save themselves or earn God’s favour, and therefore deserving of His judgement.
  7. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and that He is God.
  8. We believe that Jesus Christ is fully divine and fully human, born of a virgin.
  9. We believe that Jesus Christ is the sinless Saviour of the world, who died a sacrificial death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and is coming back again for a blameless church without spot or wrinkle.
  10. We believe in salvation through Jesus’ atoning death on the cross – not salvation by merit or by works, but by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ and by repentance from sin, becoming a new creation.
  11. We believe that salvation is an all-encompassing work of justification, regeneration, sanctification and glorification.
  12. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and humankind, through whom humankind can be saved.
  13. We believe that through Jesus Christ God has revealed Himself.
  14. We believe that believers are the body of Christ, the church, represented by a global community of believers united by their faith in Jesus Christ, meeting together as local bodies and congregations for worship, discipleship, evangelism and witnessing for Jesus Christ, and serving their community.
  15. We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit as part of the Godhead, who actively convicts the world of sin and regenerates sinners, dwelling with and in believers and empowering them for sanctification, for witnessing about Jesus Christ and for service.
  16. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ instituted baptism and the Lord’s Supper for His believers (the church) to observe as instructed by the Word.
  17. We believe God instituted all governing authority, and believers are called to obey that authority, including civil authority, unless it explicitly or implicitly contradicts or violates the Word of God.
  18. We believe God wants to reconcile all creation to Himself through Jesus Christ, calling the church to be ambassadors for the ministry of reconciliation.
  19. We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead.
  20. We believe in judgement, eternal life for the righteous and eternal damnation for the wicked, and the new heaven and the new earth.
